Torch Relay One Mile Walk/Run Supporting Riley Hospital for Children Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (October 2, 2018) — The Indianapolis Torch Relay benefiting Riley Hospital for Children will take place Saturday, October 6, on the banks of the White River canal in Indianapolis. Torch Relay is part of a unique multi-day event where participants raise money for their local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals partner. Locally, all proceeds go directly to Riley Hospital for Children.

Event details:

  • Enjoy a late start! Saturday, October 6, 11 a.m. at Fairbanks Hall, located at 340 West 10th Street, Indianapolis. Free parking is available adjacent to the building.
  • Less distance this year: Enjoy a ONE MILE walk/run!
  • On-site registration begins at 10 a.m. REGISTRATION IS FREE!
  • To earn the 2018 Torch Relay t-shirt, registrants are asked to raise $40 for Riley Hospital for Children. Register at Torch-Relay.org and select Indianapolis.
  • Online registration ends Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 p.m.
  • Featured speakers include:
    • Paul Haut, Chief Operating Officer, Riley Children’s Health
    • Meredith Kroger, Riley mom
  • Refreshments at the finish line and family fun activities.

Participants are invited to dress up like superheroes—they’ll be joining superhero characters in attendance! Games, refreshments and participant medals are included.

Riley Hospital is Indiana’s only CMN Hospitals partner and Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s hospital. Indianapolis is one of 21 cities where Torch Relay will take place in 2018. Since the first Torch Relay in 2002 the event has raised more than $14.1 million for CMN Hospitals, primarily funding pediatric cancer research.

The Torch Relay is an all-volunteer organization that is supported by generous corporate sponsors including Indianapolis Marriott properties.

 

Riley Children’s Foundation

Riley Children’s Foundation is the fundraising arm of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health and the founding organization that opened Riley Hospital in 1924. Today Riley Hospital is recognized as one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation and is the only comprehensive children’s research hospital in the state of Indiana. Our mission is to raise funds statewide to support Riley Hospital funding priorities: pediatric research and patient care, maternity and newborn health and family support programs.
